题目：Towards Imaging the Event Horizon of Nearby Supermassive Black Holes

Very Long Baseline Interferometry provides the highest angular resolution in astronomy. In recent years, considerable progress has been made in VLBI at millimeter wavelengths with the technological advances and advent of new millimeter telescopes, and for the first time, imaging of nearby supermassive black holes has become possible. At the same time, it has also made it possible to study the physical process of black hole accretion and jet formation and propagation in great detail. In this talk, I will introduce the recent progress made with the Event Horizon Telescope and present results from our recent observations of the Galactic center (Sgr A*), M87 and a couple of nearby AGN jets.
I am a research scientist at the Shanghai Astronomical Observatory, CAS and a guest scientist at the Max Planck Institute for Radio Astronomy. My research focus is in the areas of high angular resolution Very Long Baseline Interferometry studies of compact radio sources, particularly nearby supermassive black holes, like the Galactic center and M87. I am a member of the Event Horizon Telescope collaboration, which aims to make the first-ever image of a black hole and test Einstein's general relativity in strong gravitational field.
