Xiamen University has one of the earilest astronomy department in China. However, it only lasted a few years. Here you can find a brief history in Chinese. 

The new astronomy department was re-established in 2012. Currently, we have 23 employees, including 19 full-time faculties, 1 engineer, and 3 staffs. Our research interests cover the theoretical and observational fields on high-energy astrophysics, galaxy, star and exoplanet, cosmology, astroparticle physics, and nuclear astrophysics.
