Abstract:Metal enrichment in galaxies is regulated by in-situ star formation, gas inflow and outflow. Unfolding the metal enrichment history therefore sets important constraints to the evolutionary history of these processes which drive the galaxy evolution. In this talk I will introduce my previous works on revealing the evolution history of galaxies, including our own Galaxy, using elemental abundances from large stellar and galaxy spectroscopic  surveys and my independently-developed semi-analytical chemical evolution model. I will also talk about my research plan on Milky Way-galaxy synergy, which aims at bridging the Galactic and extra-galactic observations in order to place our Galaxy in a broad parameter space of galaxies and to build connections between their formation and evolution.

Biography: I obtained my Ph.D. degree at University of Science and Technology of China, supervised by Prof. Xu Kong. Then I moved to Portsmouth to work with Daniel Thomas and Claudia Maraston on extragalactic chemical evolution using MaNGA data. After that I started my second Postdoc at University of Utah, working with Gail Zasowski on the age-chemical abundance structure of the Galaxy.
