Abstract:
Even before the time-domain astrophysics bandwagoned in the last few years,NCU with its limited human and financial resources seeked its niche instudies of cosmic variability (solar system bodies, stars, AGNs, etc.) usingthe small 1-m workhorse telescope at Lulin Observatory. At the same time, with competitive access to some worldwide mid-sized to large telescopes,we also joined Pan-STARRS, and Zwicky Transient Facility. I will describethe strategic planning and also our latest efforts to install a two-meter telescopeequipped with instrumentation to "secure the discoveries" of the LSST.
