Abstract: Galaxies exhibit a bimodal distribution of color or star formation rate, are naturally separated into two populations: blue star-forming galaxies and red quiescent galaxies. In this talk, based on multi-wavelength image and spectroscopic data, I will talk about our recent work to understand why and how galaxies stop their star formation activities and then move from the "blue cloud" to the "red sequence", how galaxy mass assembly mode depends on stellar mass, and the origin of star formation “main sequence” slope?
