Abstract: Gravity and turbulence are two governing factors in the dynamics of molecular cloud and dense cores therein. We first present a spherical symmetric hydrodynamic model describing the gravitational collapses and expansions of molecular cloud cores. Corresponding protostellar mass accretion rate is developed which naturally solves the luminosity problem in star formation. We will then look into the decay of turbulent motion in cloud cores which facilitates the star formation. Observational features of turbulence decay are also discussed with the origins of dense cores and the dynamic history of the molecular cloud predicted accordingly.
