Abstract:
As the main ingredient of the matter in the universe, dark matter is coupled with baryons through gravity. On large scales, such coupling has been nicely interpreted in the framework of lambdaCDM. However, there is a variety of differences between observations and predictions on small scales. To reconcile these differences, different approaches have been proposed, e.g. including the baryonic feedback and a more radical one by modifying the nature of dark matter. In this talk, I will illustrate some challenges on this topic by presenting two works, including a cuspy dark matter halo discovered through observations of an ultra diffuse galaxy and a universal relation between galaxy stellar masses and halo binding energies.
