Speaker: Siyi Feng
Institute: Xiamen University
Host: XMU Malaysia Campus
Time: 15:30-17:30, Tuesday, November, 23
Location: Online (Microsoft teams)
Abstract:
Ever since the first step out of the proverbial cave, humans never stopped their appreciation of the beauty of the night sky, never stopped their curiosities about the infinite possibilities of time and space. Where did we come from? Are we alone in the Universe? What is the fate of the Universe? Astronomy is the closest science from our everyday experience, studying the most distant objects, and it is the oldest science, exploring the youngest Universe.
This public talk is for anybody curious about astronomy. In this talk, you will be briefly introduced to three topics: What are the big questions in astronomy? What do astronomers do? What kind of astronomy education and research can XMU offer you?
